Newbie, couple of questions

First of all hello!

I have a couple of questions. I have recently bought a Krasnogorsk K3 camera and am a complete beginner to cameras.

It came with a piece of equipment which I am not sure what it does as I am new to this.

Any idea what this is and what it does?

It is a shoulder stock. You use it to brace the camera and keep it more staedy while shooting.

Thanks for answering Nigel. I have attached and it and am using it now.

Another question I have is about tripods.
Do any of you recommend using a modern telescopic one? If so, does anybody know where to get the screw-on attachment between the tripod and the camera as a regular one does not seem to fit.

Get the best one you can. It may even end up costing more than the K3.

It needs to be heavy, solid, and the head must be smooth.
